How do you get to Nordre Hestnes Gård?2022-09-30T10:48:25+02:00

There are three main options for traveling to our farm which is about one hour from the city of Tromsø. It is easily accessible by car and we have plenty of free parking spaces. The public bus number 100 also runs from Tromsø. We can help you arrange correct bus times and then pick you up from the closest bus stop. The third option is to arrange for us to pick you up and drop you off in Tromsø. Our van can hold eight passengers and their luggage.

Our two rental apartments, one larger and one smaller, are both newly renovated. They are located perfectly for viewing the northern lights during the winter and watching the sunset over the fjord during the rest of the year. Take a look at the link below for more information.

When staying in one of the apartments cooking food is easy in the full kitchen’s provided. There is an option to buy some of our farm’s organic eggs for your own use if you desire. For the horse riding experiences an easy lunch can be arranged if requested ahead of time.

During the spring, summer, and autumn there are many activities such as fishing or walking in the mountains and on the fjord.

During the winter it is possible to snowshoe, ride our Icelandic horses, or watch the beautiful northern lights.

We charge 400 NOK per hour per horse. The rides are about one to three hours long including the time to saddle-up, groom, and saddle-down each horse. Winter rides include headlamps and searching for northern lights. Daylight rides can be on our riding track, in the forest, or on the fjord beach. Experience is not necessary because you will always have a guide with you and Icelandic horses are kind, calm and friendly companions.
